Other visas do not require you to provide an ATAS certificate at the point when making your visa application, but you must always obtain an ATAS certificate before starting a programme or employment that requires it as this will be checked by your HEI or Research Institution. You do not need an ATAS certificate before applying for a: ... British National Overseas visa (BNO) (applies to study only)
